Thought of the Week

Have you ever thought about our transit system? How it has been getting worse and worse as the years go on? You may have thought of that before but have you ever thought that it might be your fault that it's been getting worse and worse? People used to take the bus everywhere, cars weren't as popular then and were more of a luxury than a commodity.  But now pretty much everyone you meet has a car and uses it every single day instead of taking the bus. So the obvious answer to cutting out all the car pollution is to take the bus, right? Right! But it's not as easy as it looks. Why? Probably because the bus doesn't stop in your area, or if it does it only stops once or twice a day and at really inconvenient times - but didn't it used to come when you needed it? Well, it probably did but since less people are taking the bus, especially people in out of the way areas, it means that the bus system will cut more stops or routes off their list. Once they cut them off the list less people will ride because the bus doesn't go to certain areas. And since those people aren't taking the bus they will probably get a car which means more pollution. The bus system will cut even more stops and routes off the list since those people aren't taking the bus, then less people will take the bus because they can't reach the bus ...... so it just goes in one big cycle of less people riding= less stops the bus makes!

So.. what are we willing to do about it?
